

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed happiness over the issuance of a gazette granting legal status to Amaravati as the state capital. He thanked President Droupadi Murmu through a post on X for approving the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Act, 2026. The bill, introduced by the Union Home Ministry to amend the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, was passed by both Houses of Parliament on the 1st and 2nd of this month.
The Chief Minister stated that the recognition of Amaravati as the capital is a long-cherished dream come true for the people of Andhra Pradesh. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government, Members of Parliament who supported the bill, and the citizens who stood by the cause. Chandrababu emphasized that this achievement is a victory for the people of the state, especially for the farmers of Amaravati.
