Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has kept his promise to government employees. On Saturday night, he met with various government employee unions and assured them that some of their demands would be addressed immediately. Among the key assurances was the implementation of the Dearness Allowance (DA) hike, which will cost around ₹2,000 crore. True to his word, the government has now issued official orders to implement the decision.
As a Diwali gift, the state government announced an increase in the DA for government employees and pensioners. The DA will be raised by 3.64%, taking the current 33.67% to 37.31%, effective from January 1. Employees will receive the increased amount starting from their January salaries. The Finance Department’s Principal Secretary, Piyush Kumar, has issued the official orders regarding this hike.
In addition, CM Chandrababu Naidu has also honored his commitment to RTC employees. Employee unions had expressed concerns over the long delay in promotions. During the meeting on Saturday, the CM gave the green signal for the pending promotions. Following this, the government issued a G.O. on Monday, confirming that promotions for RTC employees will also take effect from January.
This move has been widely appreciated as a proactive step by the CM to fulfill promises and support government employees ahead of the festive season.
