Police have registered a case against Karimnagar BRS MLA Gangula Kamalakar over allegations of violating election norms. Along with claims of breaching the Model Code of Conduct during the election period, action has also been initiated regarding an incident in which a person in police custody was allegedly forcibly released. The Karimnagar Police Commissioner confirmed that cases have been filed not only against MLA Kamalakar but also against six others in connection with the incident.
According to officials, police received information that money was being distributed to voters in the Kisan Nagar area of Karimnagar during the election period. Acting on the tip-off, police rushed to the spot and took an individual identified as Jampayya into custody, placing him in a police vehicle. During preliminary inquiry, suspicions arose that he was distributing cash to voters in violation of election regulations. At this time, MLA Kamalakar reportedly reached the location and objected to the police action.
It is alleged that Jampayya was forcibly taken out of the police jeep. Authorities have stated that releasing a person from police custody in such a manner is unlawful. Police officials said that a detailed investigation is currently underway and that further legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
