BRS MLC Tata Madhu has clarified his remarks that sparked a controversy involving Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. Tata Madhu said he holds the Speaker in high regard and maintained that he had not made any remarks against him. He stated that if his comments were interpreted as being directed at the Speaker, he was withdrawing them and expressing regret. Tata Madhu said his remarks were made in the heat of the moment against those who allegedly attacked him and attempted to silence him.
The comments had triggered a strong reaction from the Congress, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, several ministers and MLAs expressing their displeasure over Tata Madhu’s remarks in the Assembly. BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy also condemned the comments and demanded action against the BRS MLC. Against this backdrop, Tata Madhu issued his clarification and expressed regret over the remarks if they were construed as being directed at the Speaker.
