Andhra Pradesh is taking another big leap in renewable energy. Global investor Brookfield has received a major funding boost of ₹7,500 crore from the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) to set up a massive 1,040 MW hybrid renewable energy project in Kurnool. The project, combining wind, solar, and battery storage, aims to deliver uninterrupted green power — even during weather changes. It will be executed by Evren, a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy. Evren is also planning additional projects in Kurnool and Anantapur, as part of Brookfield’s larger 8,000 MW clean energy roadmap for Andhra Pradesh, worth nearly ₹50,000 crore.
This milestone follows Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh’s meeting with Brookfield Global President Connor Teskey in London, where they discussed opportunities in renewable energy and data centers. Experts believe this project will be a game-changer for Andhra Pradesh, helping stabilize the power grid, create jobs, and attract global investors. Lokesh remarked that the state is fast emerging as India’s renewable energy hub, driving both sustainability and growth.
With this new step, Andhra Pradesh continues to justify its title as the “Sunrise State”, a symbol of progress and innovation.
