Political developments in Bihar are gaining momentum as the BJP Legislature Party (BLP) meeting has been scheduled for April 14 in Patna. The meeting comes at a crucial time when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has recently taken oath as a Rajya Sabha MP, continues to hold the CM post. Speculation is rife over when he might step down, making the upcoming BLP meeting highly significant for the state’s political landscape.
During the meeting, the BJP is expected to elect a new BLP leader, who could potentially emerge as the next Chief Minister if Nitish Kumar resigns. Indications suggest that a BJP leader from the alliance may take over the top post. To oversee the process, senior leader and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been appointed by the party leadership. He will also play a key role in building consensus within the party. The final decision taken after the meeting may pave the way for a leadership change in Bihar.
