BJP Leader’s E-Rickshaw Ride Sparks Debate in Madhya Pradesh

BJP leader Virendra Goyal created buzz in Madhya Pradesh after travelling 27 kilometres in an e-rickshaw to assume charge as Chairman of the Singrauli Development Authority. He said the move was meant to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation and promote eco-friendly transport.

However, the green initiative drew criticism after nearly 200 fuel-powered vehicles followed him in a massive convoy. Social media users pointed out the contradiction between the message and the fuel-heavy procession. Goyal later said he could not stop supporters from joining him out of enthusiasm.
