The Telangana BJP is reportedly considering party state president and former MLC N. Ramchander Rao as its candidate for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar graduates’ MLC constituency. A three-member committee met party leaders from the three erstwhile districts at the BJP office in Hyderabad on Tuesday and sought their views on his possible candidature. Ramchander Rao has contested from this constituency since 2009. He won the election in 2015 but lost in 2009 and 2021.
Meanwhile, the BJP is considering fielding a candidate from the Backward Classes for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduates’ MLC constituency. According to reports, 28 applications have been received for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar seat and 10 for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda seat. The three-member committee is expected to submit a panel of three names for each constituency, along with its assessment report, to Ramchander Rao on Wednesday. The state unit will discuss the recommendations before forwarding its report to the national leadership. With the Congress having already announced its candidates, the BJP is working to complete its selection process at the earliest.
