Bhumana Questions Cancellation of Pumped Storage Project

YSR Congress Party Chittoor district president Bhumana Karunakar Reddy questioned the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to cancel a proposed pumped hydro storage project in Annamayya district. He alleged that the government had earlier announced a major project with an investment of around ₹10,300 crore in the Chintalapalyam, Kommuru and Chittadavi areas, along with employment opportunities and power storage capacity. He questioned the rationale behind the cancellation and sought clarity on the reasons cited by the government.

Bhumana alleged that environmental concerns and the area’s sensitivity were cited while cancelling the project, and questioned why such issues were not considered when the project was initially announced. He also raised questions about other projects and investments that, according to him, were not progressing in Andhra Pradesh. Bhumana demanded that the government disclose the facts behind the cancellation and explain the status of the proposed project.
