Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka expressed concern over the alleged misuse of Form 7 during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He said there were concerns that political preferences of voters could be identified through social media and that such information might be used to target eligible voters for deletion from electoral rolls. These are his allegations and concerns regarding the ongoing electoral-roll revision process.
Bhatti Vikramarka said protecting citizens’ right to vote is fundamental to democracy and stressed that the Election Commission should ensure transparency and strengthen public confidence in the electoral process. He also suggested that, if necessary, the ballot paper system could be considered to further enhance public trust in elections.
