

Following a landslide victory in the Bangladesh parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured two-thirds of the total seats. Out of 299 parliamentary seats, BNP, along with its allies, won 212 seats, paving the way for Tarique Rahman to lead the new government. The party confirmed that preparations for forming the new administration under Rahman’s leadership are underway.
In response to the historic win, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Tarique Rahman. He described the victory as a decisive mandate, reflecting the people’s trust in Rahman’s leadership. Modi emphasized that India looks forward to working closely with Bangladesh to strengthen bilateral relations and pursue joint development goals, noting the BNP’s victory as a positive signal for regional cooperation.
