Telangana Government Whip Dr. Balmoor Venkat launched a sharp attack on former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, alleging that large-scale financial irregularities took place during the previous BRS government's tenure. Speaking at a photo exhibition organised at Gandhi Bhavan, he claimed that public funds worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore were misused in the name of the project. He also stated that the present Congress government had exposed the alleged irregularities and referred to observations made by the National Dam Safety Authority regarding construction-related issues.
Dr. Balmoor Venkat further alleged that the Kaleshwaram project was originally conceived during the tenure of former Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as part of the Jalayagnam programme. He urged KCR to attend the Assembly and respond to the allegations. Targeting BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), he issued a political challenge over his recent remarks, including comments related to blood donation and a drug test. These statements reflect the allegations and political assertions made by the Government Whip and have drawn renewed attention to the ongoing political debate surrounding the Kaleshwaram project.
