Senior YSRCP leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu has received relief from the Guntur court. He was granted bail in a case alleging illegal collections under the guise of a lucky draw during Sankranti celebrations. Although he had already secured bail in cases related to alleged inappropriate remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the “Chalo Medical College” protest, his release was delayed due to the pending lucky draw case. With bail now granted in this matter as well, obstacles to his release are considered to have been cleared. The court also dismissed a petition filed by the police seeking his custody, providing him further relief.
The case pertains to allegations that during the 2023 Sankranti festivities in Sattenapalli, Rs. 200 was collected from pension beneficiaries in exchange for lottery tickets. Based on a complaint filed by Jana Sena Party leader Gade Venkateswara Rao, a case was registered at the Sattenapalli Police Station and an investigation was initiated. Following the issuance of a PT warrant, Ambati Rambabu was produced before the court. After hearing arguments from both sides, the magistrate initially remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. Subsequently, upon hearing the bail petition filed in the Guntur court, bail was granted.
