Former Minister and BRS party Deputy Floor Leader Harish Rao addressed a press conference at the Assembly Media Hall. Speaking on the occasion, he criticized that the legislative sessions concluded in a perfunctory manner without any clear direction. He alleged that the government ended the session without allowing discussions on public issues. According to him, the Assembly appeared to have been conducted merely for passing the budget and bills, with no substantial debate on genuine public concerns.
Harish Rao further alleged that the government avoided discussion on public issues. He stated that although there were expectations for clarity on the six guarantees promised to the public, the session ended in deep disappointment. He also pointed out that even though the BRS had submitted notices seeking discussion on several issues faced by the people, the government did not respond. He criticized that Assembly traditions were disregarded, decorum was not maintained and leaders of the Congress, including the Chief Minister, used arrogant and inappropriate language towards the opposition.
He also remarked that the government failed to effectively conduct question hour in the Assembly. Delays in starting sessions, prolonged breaks stretching for hours and similar practices diminished the dignity of the House. He alleged that the Assembly was adjourned early for Kerala election campaigning, indicating a preference for political interests over public issues. He further claimed that despite exposing evidence of Minister Ponguleti’s alleged corruption, BRS MLAs were suspended as part of diversion politics, enabling the passage of key bills without the presence of the opposition.
