Unidentified miscreants set fire to the residence of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in Ballari, triggering political tension in the region. The incident occurred on the evening of January 23 at the Model House located in Ballari Cantonment. Fortunately, no one was present in the house at the time, averting a major tragedy. Janardhan Reddy was in Bengaluru due to the ongoing Karnataka Assembly sessions. His brother, Gali Somasekhar Reddy, alleged that the attackers poured petrol on the building and deliberately set it ablaze.
He further accused supporters of MLA Nara Bharath Reddy of being behind the arson. After learning about the incident, Janardhan Reddy lodged a formal complaint with the Ballari district police. He stated that the attack took place just weeks after recent banner-related clashes, raising serious concerns over law and order. Janardhan Reddy also said that he spoke to the Ballari SP, who assured strict action against those responsible.
