Union Minister Kishan Reddy attended the 57th Hyderabad edition of the Sundays On Cycle event held at Gachibowli Stadium as the chief guest and highlighted the importance of fitness and healthy living.
He stated that the central government is working with a strong focus on the Fit India initiative to promote a healthier lifestyle among citizens. Changes in daily routines, unhealthy food habits, lack of physical activity, and climate variations are leading to rising health issues, especially obesity.
To address these concerns, several awareness programs are being implemented. He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce oil consumption as part of preventive healthcare.
Kishan Reddy also noted that mental stress has become a major contributor to various illnesses. Advancing technology, while easing workloads, has significantly reduced physical effort, impacting overall health.
He emphasized that a healthy youth population is essential for building a strong nation. Only a physically and mentally fit generation can effectively serve the country and drive its development.
