

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation of the ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel plant, marking a significant milestone for the state’s industrial growth. Speaking at the event, he highlighted that the plant, established under the “Speed of Doing Business” initiative in just 20 months, will directly and indirectly generate jobs for over one lakh youth. He commended Aditya Mittal and Minister Nara Lokesh for their contributions and thanked the farmers who provided land for the project.
The steel plant, to be built in two phases, will produce 17.8 million tonnes of steel. The project also includes a captive port worth ₹11,198 crore and supporting infrastructure such as a four-lane national highway and pipelines for raw material supply. The Chief Minister emphasized that besides steel production, the plant will transform the region with economic activities, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s investor-friendly environment, he urged innovators and entrepreneurs to leverage the state’s potential. The upcoming industrial hubs, data centers, ports, airports, and rare earth mineral projects will collectively make the Visakhapatnam region a key economic center in the country.
Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy also spoke at the event, praising the state leadership of Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan for making Andhra Pradesh a progressive and investment-friendly state. He highlighted that the ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel project will boost domestic steel production, support MSMEs, and create jobs, while contributing to the “Viksit Bharat 2047” and Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. Both state and central governments assured full support for the rapid completion and operationalization of the plant.
