The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) held a meeting with representatives of 19 political parties to discuss preparations and arrangements for local body elections. The parties submitted several suggestions, including avoiding delays in issuing caste certificates and no-dues certificates required for the nomination process. They also called for effective measures to control the distribution and use of liquor during elections. SEC Commissioner Anil Chandra Puneeth said the suggestions would be considered and that necessary instructions would be issued to district officials.
The SEC also said it would examine the possibility of introducing an online nomination system to make the process more convenient. Police security arrangements would be strengthened in sensitive areas, and local elections would be conducted in accordance with the law, the commissioner stated. The meeting focused on addressing the practical concerns raised by political parties and ensuring that the election process is conducted in a fair, orderly and secure manner.
