AP Assembly Approves Bill to Amend Village and Ward Secretariat Act

The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly has approved the amendment bill for the Village and Ward Secretariat Act. Under this new bill, the existing secretariats across the state will now be known as Swarna Gramas and Swarna Wards.

Minister Dola Balaveeranjaneyaswamy introduced the bill in the Assembly on Thursday. He explained that the coalition government is working towards the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047, aiming for overall state development. As part of this vision, changes are being made to the functioning of secretariats and accordingly, their names are being updated to reflect this new direction.

The government expressed confidence that these changes will help deliver better and faster services to people at the village and ward levels.
