Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy strongly criticized the Congress government in Telangana, alleging that democracy is being disrespected at every step. He questioned the decision of the Assembly Speaker to give a clean chit to leaders like Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari, stating that such actions undermine the mandate given by the people. According to him, allowing defections and legitimizing them through official decisions is against the spirit of democratic values.
Kishan Reddy further stated that both Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi have followed similar practices when in power, showing no real difference in their approach to defections. He argued that leaders elected on one party’s symbol later contesting on another party’s ticket is clear evidence of political opportunism. He warned that while governments may try to manage institutions with power, they cannot escape the anger of the public, and the people will ultimately hold such actions accountable.
