Amit Shah is set to visit Kolkata on Friday as the Bharatiya Janata Party prepares to finalise its Chief Ministerial candidate for West Bengal. BJP legislators are expected to elect their legislative party leader during a crucial meeting scheduled for 4 PM. The elected leader is likely to take oath as the next Chief Minister of West Bengal on Saturday, bringing an end to intense political speculation surrounding the top post.
Several senior BJP leaders are reportedly in the race for the Chief Minister’s position, with Suvendu Adhikari emerging as the frontrunner. Suvendu played a key role in leading the BJP’s election campaign in the state and gained national attention after defeating Mamata Banerjee in the Bhabanipur constituency. Alongside him, leaders such as Dilip Ghosh, Samik Bhattacharya, Agnimitra Paul, and Rupa Ganguly are also being discussed as possible contenders for the post.
