The tragic incident that occurred in Karur, Tamil Nadu, at the end of September shook the entire nation. During Tamilaga Vetri Kalagam leader Vijay’s roadshow, a stampede claimed the lives of 41 people, sparking massive debate across political and film circles. While the ruling DMK blamed Vijay for the tragedy, his party countered that it was the government’s failure and even hinted at a possible conspiracy. Some from the film industry supported Vijay, while others criticized him. Actor Ajith, who rarely appears in the media, finally broke his silence in a recent interview. Speaking about the incident, Ajith said, “As actors, we work hard to earn people’s love. But expressing that love should happen in a safe and sensible way. Fans, media, and organizers all share responsibility in such situations.”
Ajith indirectly supported Vijay, saying that blaming one individual for such a tragedy is unfair. He added that everyone involved should take responsibility to ensure such incidents never happen again. He also emphasized that the growing crowd frenzy to see celebrities or political leaders should be reduced, and that better crowd management is essential.
