A major political development has emerged in Tamil Nadu as the AIADMK faces internal division over supporting actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which has reportedly become the single largest party with 108 seats, just short of the 118-seat majority mark. Senior leader and MLA C.V. Shanmugam has openly called for supporting TVK to counter DMK, arguing that the party’s survival and relevance depend on strategic alignment. Reports suggest that more than half of AIADMK MLAs have backed this proposal.
While one faction within AIADMK supports extending support to TVK, another strongly opposes the idea, leading to what appears to be a clear split within the party. Sources indicate that MLAs are pressuring party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami to consider the majority view. Meanwhile, discussions between AIADMK and TVK over political alignment are reportedly underway, and even Congress has extended support to TVK for government formation, making Tamil Nadu politics increasingly dynamic and uncertain.
