

The Telangana government is formulating a new tourism policy to revitalize the state's tourism sector. Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao revealed that the policy focuses on the integrated development of historical, cultural, and natural tourist destinations, along with extensive national and international promotion. It aims to introduce world-class projects like international shopping hubs, adventure tourism, water sports, river festivals, and caravan tourism to attract private and foreign investments.
A key objective of the policy is to generate large-scale employment and self-employment opportunities for youth in core and allied sectors like hospitality, transport, and handicrafts. The government plans to skill youth to become stakeholders as guides, in hotel management, and local craft sales. The goal is to increase tourism's contribution to the state's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 10% by 2047. This comprehensive approach is expected to strengthen the state's economy and project Telangana's brand globally.
