The central government is set to introduce a bill in the Parliament’s Monsoon Session to increase the number of Supreme Court judges from 33 to 37. The proposed amendment seeks to modify the Supreme Court Act of 1956, aiming to strengthen the judiciary and address the growing backlog of cases.
The Parliament session is scheduled to begin on the 20th of this month, during which the bill will be discussed. The government believes that increasing the number of judges will enhance efficiency in the judicial system and help in faster disposal of pending cases.
