Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar assured that all necessary arrangements have been made for smooth paddy procurement this Kharif season. “Learning from past experiences, the government has kept 6 crore gunny bags ready to ensure farmers face no inconvenience. To protect the paddy from unexpected rains, 50,000 tarpaulins are also in place and will be distributed to farmers free of cost if needed,” he said while addressing the media on Wednesday. He added that to avoid confusion in measuring moisture content, machines from a single company will be used across all procurement centers.
The state is prepared to purchase 51 lakh tonnes of paddy worth ₹12,200 crore for the Public Distribution System. The procurement plan will roll out in phases —
11 lakh tonnes in November
25 lakh tonnes in December
8 lakh tonnes in January
3 lakh tonnes in February
4 lakh tonnes in March
“Every farmer’s grain will be safely procured. No one will suffer due to rains or delays,” Nadendla assured.
