In recent times, several Telugu movies with mythological elements have been released and Vanaveera is one among them. Inspired by the Kishkindha Kand episode from the Ramayana, the film received an average response in theatres and has now quietly made its way to OTT.
The movie marks Avinash’s debut as both hero and director. Initially titled Vanara, the name was later changed due to censor objections. Released on January 1 as a New Year special, the film was overshadowed by other Telugu releases that day. Without any announcement, Vanaveera is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Simran Choudhary plays the female lead, while Nandu appears as the antagonist.
The story revolves around Raghu (Avinash), a middle-class youth from Vanapura who, despite being an IIT graduate, remains unemployed. His most treasured possession is a bike gifted by his father. When political leader Deva (Nandu) takes it for a rally and doesn’t return it, Raghu goes to retrieve it - leading to unexpected twists. The movie connects this personal conflict to the mythological Vanara tribe from the Ramayana, adding a unique layer to the story.
