Ramayana: Part One, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi in key roles, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the ambitious Indian epic has attracted considerable attention ahead of its release. In a notable development, JioStar has announced that the film will follow a pay-per-view model on JioHotstar after its theatrical run in India. Under this system, viewers will have to pay an additional amount to watch the movie online, as a regular platform subscription alone will not include access to the film.
The announcement has raised questions about whether the pay-per-view approach will generate additional revenue for the makers. In India, this model has yet to gain widespread acceptance, as many viewers prefer watching films included in their existing OTT subscriptions rather than paying separately for individual titles. The makers have not yet announced the additional viewing fee or the film’s OTT release date. Produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash, the film features music by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman and is planned for release in multiple languages. Advance bookings for its theatrical release are reportedly open, while audience response to the digital viewing model remains to be seen.
