After creating a strong buzz at the box office for nearly two months, ‘Dhurandhar’ has now arrived on OTT platforms. The film was released only in Hindi in theatres, but the OTT version is available in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. Since its digital release, Telugu audiences have been watching the film with curiosity and the response so far has been mixed.
Unlike regular spy thrillers, Dhurandhar stands out with its realistic treatment and Pakistan-based backdrop. While Ranveer Singh plays the central role as Hamza, Akshaye Khanna’s character Rahman Dacoit has impressed many viewers. Performances by Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Madhavan also received good appreciation. However, some Telugu viewers feel the film lacks mass elevations and fresh elements, especially when compared to movies like Pushpa and KGF.
Director Aditya Dhar skillfully included real-life incidents such as the Kandahar hijack and the Mumbai Taj attack, which adds depth to the story. The Telugu dubbing feels natural and keeping the songs in Hindi worked well. Though Netflix initially faced criticism over color grading and sound quality, the issues were later fixed. The film’s detailed set work, recreated in Thailand to resemble Karachi, became a major highlight. Meanwhile, the sequel of Dhurandhar is set to release in theatres on March 19 in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
