Ugadi celebrations were held across the Telugu states yesterday, with many people enjoying the festival and holidays. At the same time, new movies like Dhurandhar 2 and Ustaad Bhagat Singh released in theatres. Even though Dhurandhar 2 is a Hindi film, it received a strong response in Telugu regions as well. On the other hand, Ustaad Bhagat Singh mainly attracted fans, while the general audience response remained limited.
Talking about OTT releases, the first part of Dhurandhar was streamed on Netflix, but the sequel’s digital rights have been given to Disney+ Hotstar, owned by Jio Studios. Like the first part, this movie is expected to stream about 8 weeks after its theatrical release, which means it may be available by the end of May. However, many viewers still prefer to watch it in theatres.
Meanwhile, the digital rights of Ustaad Bhagat Singh have been sold to Netflix. The producer has said that the film will release on OTT after 5 weeks, so it may start streaming by the end of April. There were rumors that the film is a remake of Theri, but it has been clarified that it is not. The movie follows a regular commercial police story and is currently receiving mixed to negative response. The final verdict is expected to become clearer after the weekend.
