Ashika Ranganath, who gained recognition among Telugu audiences through films like Amigos, Naa Saami Ranga and Bhartha Mahashayulaku Vignapthi, is originally from the Kannada film industry. She has acted in many Kannada movies and continues to do so. Earlier this month, her Kannada film Gatha Vaibhava was released in Telugu through dubbing and hit theatres. Now, without much promotion, the movie has quietly arrived on OTT.
Gatha Vaibhava, based on a past-life love story, was released in Telugu theatres on January 1. Though many films with a similar concept have been made earlier, this movie did not receive strong appreciation from Telugu audiences due to its weak content. Despite the limited response in theatres, the film is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Ashika Ranganath and Dushyant play the lead roles, while Suni directed the movie.
The story revolves around Adhunika, an artist who loves painting. She draws a picture of a man she often imagines and shares it on social media. Surprisingly, a man named Puratana, who looks exactly like the painting, enters her life. Puratana runs a visual effects studio and initially tries to get close to Adhunika with wrong intentions. However, the truths she reveals about their past lives shock him. How does Adhunika know about her previous birth? What was the bond between them hundreds of years ago? The rest of the film explores these questions.
