Tamil actor Karthi has a strong fan base in Telugu as well. Usually, his films release in both Tamil and Telugu at the same time. However, his recent film ‘Vaa Vaathiyar’ was first released only in Tamil. The movie had been in production for nearly two to three years and was initially planned for release on December 5 last year. But due to a legal case filed by a financier against producer Gnanavel Raja over pending payments, the release was delayed. After clearing the dues, the film finally hit theatres in Tamil Nadu on January 14. Unfortunately, it received negative talk from the very first show and failed at the box office.
Within two weeks, the film started streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. However, the Telugu version used the same print prepared for Tamil. On screen, the image of MGR appeared, while the dialogues mentioned NTR. This created confusion among Telugu viewers and many were disappointed.
To fix this issue, the makers have now announced that a corrected print with NTR’s images will start streaming from March 6. However, since many people have already forgotten about the film, it remains to be seen how much impact this re-release will have.
