Nandamuri Balakrishna’s latest film Akhanda 2 received a mixed response after its release on Netflix. The film began streaming last week, but it did not attract strong viewership in its opening days. During its first week, Akhanda 2 appeared in the top 10 non-English films list in seven countries, including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, the UAE and Nigeria. In India, the film secured the third position, ranking behind De De Pyaar De 2 and Haq.
According to Netflix data from January 5 to January 11, 2026, Akhanda 2 recorded 2 million views and 5.6 million viewing hours in its debut week. Globally, it ranked fourth among non-English films. The top spot that week was taken by the South Korean sci-fi disaster drama The Great Flood. However, the film could not match the performance of Balakrishna’s earlier Netflix release, Daaku Maharaaj, which achieved 2.4 million views in its first week in 2025.
Interestingly, Akhanda 2 registered the same opening-week numbers as Rashmika Mandanna’s The Girlfriend. With this performance, Akhanda 2 is now listed as the fifth-lowest debut for a South Indian film on Netflix since 2025.
