In a major move to ease the growing pressure of devotees on Tirumala, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to develop an integrated township at Alipiri in Tirupati. The proposed township will be built over an area of 20 to 25 acres with the aim of providing essential facilities to pilgrims before they proceed to Tirumala.
The decision was taken during the TTD Trust Board meeting held on Tuesday at Annamayya Bhavan in Tirumala. TTD Board Chairman B.R. Naidu shared the details with the media. He stated that the township will be developed in the area currently occupied by the TTD Sculpture College, which will be relocated to another location.
The integrated township will offer basic accommodation, annadanam facilities, and parking arrangements for devotees visiting Tirumala. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce congestion on the hill shrine.
Additionally, the Trust Board approved an extra allocation of ₹48 crore to upgrade facilities at the Sri Padmavati Children’s Heart Hospital in Tirupati. Earlier, around ₹230 crore had already been sanctioned for the hospital. The chairman also mentioned that tenders related to unnecessary constructions were cancelled.
TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, Additional EO Venkayya Chowdary, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
