India is preparing for a massive artificial intelligence transformation, with Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announcing a ₹10 lakh crore investment over the next seven years at the India AI Impact Summit-2026. He said Reliance aims to make AI as affordable and accessible as mobile data and internet services were during the digital revolution led by Jio. The initiative focuses on connecting citizens, businesses, and government services through AI-driven systems, positioning India at the forefront of the global “Intelligence Age.” Ambani emphasized that Jio, which brought India into the internet era, will now enable the intelligence era by significantly reducing the cost of AI usage.
The investment will focus on three major pillars: building gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar, developing 10 gigawatts of green energy infrastructure, and deploying a nationwide telecom-integrated edge computing network to deliver low-latency AI services. Several AI applications—including JioShikshak for adaptive learning in 22 languages, JioArogya AI for healthcare guidance, and JioKrishi for agricultural productivity—have already been launched. Industry leaders at the summit highlighted India’s strong potential to become an AI powerhouse, with experts predicting economic growth acceleration, innovation in education and healthcare, and expanded opportunities through AI-driven platforms, chips, and infrastructure development.
