A significant development has occurred in the Formula E-Car Race case. The central government has granted permission for prosecution against IAS officer Arvind Kumar. It is also notable that the Governor had previously granted prosecution permission for former Minister and Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Executive President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR). The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is expected to file the chargesheet in this case soon.
According to the ACB, the government suffered a loss of ₹54.88 crore due to payments made to a foreign company in violation of regulations for the Formula E race held in Hyderabad in 2023. Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
Arvind Kumar, who was the Special Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department at the time, stated that the release of funds was carried out under the instructions of KTR. He also disclosed this information during the ACB inquiry, ensuring that full details are on record.
