Kannada superstar Yash, who rose to pan-India fame with the blockbuster KGF franchise, is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Toxic. In a recent interview, Yash addressed the broader debate over whether the success of a film should be credited primarily to its producer or its lead actor. He acknowledged that KGF undeniably transformed his career and brought him international recognition, but stressed that a film’s success is the result of the collective efforts of an entire team.
Yash said that writers, character artistes, technicians and the lead performers all contribute to a film’s final outcome. According to him, audiences recognise the efforts of everyone involved and decide who deserves credit and respect. He also remarked that even a major star’s fate can be decided on a Friday, and that a film’s failure can quickly erase the so-called pan-India tag. His comments assume significance in the context of remarks made by producer Allu Aravind in 2023, when he questioned how many people knew Yash before KGF and attributed much of the film’s popularity to its large-scale production. Those comments had triggered strong reactions from Yash’s fans at the time.
