Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-awaited cop drama ‘Spirit’, starring Prabhas, has been in the news ever since it was announced four years ago—even though the shooting has not begun yet. The film was initially expected to go on floors right after Sandeep completed Animal. However, the delay continued mainly because Prabhas couldn’t allocate dates due to his packed schedule.
Throughout the last year, rumours suggested that Spirit would finally start once Prabhas completed one of his ongoing films, such as The Raja Saab or Fauji. But no progress was seen, disappointing fans eager to witness the powerful Prabhas–Sandeep combination. With every month passing, the wait only grew longer.
Now, Sandeep Reddy Vanga himself has officially announced that Spirit will begin shooting at the end of this month. He made this statement during the Jigiris event held today in Hyderabad. Although Sandeep appears confident, doubts remain about whether Prabhas can really begin shooting this month, as he still has some portions left in Hanu Raghavapudi’s war drama Fauji.
Since Prabhas has already completed most of the shooting for The Raja Saab, he can now focus on Spirit. However, he will need to handle multiple looks simultaneously for Fauji and Spirit. Moreover, his role in Spirit is expected to be drastically different from anything he has portrayed before, requiring quick adjustments.
Only the coming days will reveal whether Sandeep’s statement becomes true. It won’t be surprising if the start gets postponed to next year.
The Spirit sound released on Prabhas’ birthday created a strong buzz, ensuring that the hype around the film remains intact despite the long delay.
