Once hesitant to step into South Indian cinema, Bollywood stars are now actively seeking opportunities in Tollywood as the Telugu industry continues to expand its national presence. The growing recognition of Telugu films and the changing box office trends have encouraged several top Hindi actors to work in South films. Following this trend, popular Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha made her Telugu debut with the supernatural thriller Jatadhara, alongside Sudheer Babu in the lead. She portrayed an intense mythological role as Dhanapisachini, the Goddess of Greed, which initially generated high expectations from fans and critics alike.
However, the film turned out to be a massive disappointment. Jatadhara performed poorly at the box office, with both the story and performances receiving harsh criticism. Despite Sonakshi’s efforts, her character failed to make any strong impact due to weak writing and direction. What was supposed to be a promising debut for the Dabangg actress became a disastrous experience. The negative reviews and low collections have shattered her hopes of building a career in Tollywood, making Jatadhara a forgettable start for her in South cinema.
