With her debut Uppena turning into a sensational blockbuster, heroine Krithi Shetty was expected to rule Tollywood. After that, she scored decent hits with Shyam Singha Roy and Bangarraju, making everyone believe she had no competition. But things completely reversed soon after. Not one or two — as many as five flops severely affected her career. Macherla Niyojakavargam, Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali, The Warrior, Custody, and Manamey turned out to be some of the worst disasters in the respective heroes’ careers too. Only her Malayalam film ARM gave her some relief. That’s the story so far.
Now, Krithi Shetty is facing a strange problem. She currently has three Tamil films in hand, but all of them have been stuck in long production delays. Karthi’s Vaa Vathiyar has completed shooting, and its teaser was released last year, but since then, there’s been silence — even the producer seems clueless about its release. Love Insurance Company with Pradeep Ranganathan was initially planned for Diwali, but since Pradeep’s acting project Dude is also targeting the same festive season, there are strong rumors in Chennai that the former might get postponed.
Even Love Insurance Company has been in production for over a year and a half. It features SJ Suryah in a key role and is directed by Vignesh Shivan, Nayanthara’s husband. Genie with Jayam Ravi is also facing trouble due to delays. With films releasing as flops and the promising ones getting delayed, Krithi Shetty’s tension is beyond measure. If she had delivered consecutive hits, she would have been in the race with Sreeleela and Rashmika Mandanna. But now, that chance seems lost. Her plan is that if at least two out of these three Tamil films succeed, she can settle well in Kollywood. Let’s wait and see what happens.
