Watching new films during festivals is a special experience for moviegoers, and the film industry often views Sankranti, Dasara and Diwali as important opportunities to attract audiences and generate strong box-office revenue. However, compared with Sankranti, fewer films featuring top stars tend to arrive during the Dasara season. This has raised questions among fans about why leading actors such as Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and Jr NTR do not frequently choose the festival window for their major releases. The relatively short holiday period and the possibility of rain affecting theatre attendance are among the factors that may influence release strategies.
With the budgets of pan-India films rising significantly, producers face greater pressure to recover their investments. The longer holiday period around Sankranti is often considered an advantage, giving audiences more opportunities to visit theatres across different regions. The comparatively lower level of film-related activity in North Indian markets during Dasara, compared with Diwali, may also influence release decisions. As a result, big-budget productions often prioritise Sankranti and the summer season, while Dasara can offer smaller and mid-budget films an opportunity to compete with fewer major releases. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Jailer 2 could arrive in theatres on October 15, although the release date has not been officially confirmed. The possibility has added to the curiosity surrounding the festival-season box office race.
