After facing a challenging phase earlier in his career, Jr NTR made a strong comeback with Temper and went on to deliver multiple box office successes. Films like Nannaku Prematho, Janatha Garage, Aravinda Sametha, RRR, and Devara strengthened his market significantly. Although Devara received mixed reviews, it performed well commercially. However, War 2, released amid high expectations, failed to meet box office projections and did not deliver the anticipated results.
War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, was distributed in Telugu states by producer Naga Vamsi. Following the film’s underwhelming performance and negative word of mouth, reports surfaced claiming massive financial losses for the distributor. Addressing these rumors, Naga Vamsi clarified that the Telugu distribution rights were acquired for Rs 68 crore. As per the agreement, Yash Raj Films voluntarily refunded Rs 18 crore after the film underperformed.
He further stated that War 2 collected around Rs 35–40 crore during its theatrical run in Telugu markets. Based on these figures, Naga Vamsi explained that the actual loss was limited to approximately Rs 10–15 crore, dismissing exaggerated claims circulating online. He urged audiences and media to rely on verified information rather than speculation.
