Vijay Deverakonda is gearing up for a powerful comeback with Ranabaali, a period drama set in pre-Independence India. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. The theatrical trailer, unveiled yesterday, has drawn attention for its intense and hard-hitting visuals. Set in the Anantapur region, the film follows the story of local rebel leader Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali and his fight against British atrocities. Unlike many films set during British rule, it does not centre on the conventional freedom struggle.
The story portrays ruthless British generals looting food grains from the Madras Presidency, pushing people into a devastating famine, and committing brutal acts against innocent children. Ranabaali is seen as a blessing by the people, who believe he was born to fulfil a greater purpose. Vijay’s body language, screen presence, fierce dialogue delivery and effort to master the Rayalaseema dialect stand out in the trailer. Rashmika appears as the innocent Jayamma, while the action sequences and production values add to the film’s scale. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and presented by T-Series, Ranabaali is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 16.
