Urvashi Rautela’s Team Takes Legal Action Against AI Company

Actress Urvashi Rautela’s team has initiated legal action against a Los Angeles-based artificial intelligence company, alleging that it used her name, photographs and videos for commercial purposes without authorisation. The team alleged that the company generated significant commercial value using Rautela’s identity and content without permission. It said damages are currently being assessed at ₹7,000 crore. However, the team has not disclosed the name of the company or detailed information about the legal proceedings.

Rautela’s team also warned AI companies against using the actress’s identity for business purposes without permission, while stating that companies are free to develop their own AI products and brands. The issue comes amid growing concerns over the unauthorised commercial use of celebrities’ names, images, videos and likenesses through AI-generated content. Rautela had previously objected to an AI-generated image depicting her kneeling before Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, and called for an end to such comparisons involving women.
