Some films do not perform strongly in theatres but gain popularity later through television and OTT platforms. Over time, they earn appreciation from audiences. Bhagavanth Kesari does not fall into the category of a flop. However, many believe that the film deserved a much bigger response considering its strong story and emotions. Widely regarded as one of the best films in director Anil Ravipudi’s career, it did not achieve the box office success seen by his other movies.
Surprisingly, more than two years after its release, Bhagavanth Kesari is once again in the spotlight on social media. The film has been remade in Tamil as Jana nayagan. After the trailer release, many viewers compared it with the original and felt that Vijay could not match Balakrishna’s intensity. Because of this discussion, scenes and dialogues from Bhagavanth Kesari are going viral again, drawing renewed attention from fans.
Interestingly, several films releasing this Sankranti have a connection with Bhagavanth Kesari. Director Anil Ravipudi’s new film Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu is releasing during the festival and is set to compete with Jana nayagan. The producer of Bhagavanth Kesari, Sahu Garapati, is also producing the Chiranjeevi–Anil Ravipudi project. Actress Sreeleela, who played an important role in Bhagavanth Kesari, is starring in Parasakthi, which is releasing against Jana nayagan. Adding to this, Thaman, the music director of Bhagavanth Kesari, is also composing music for another Sankranti release, The Raja Saab.
