Selvaraghavan’s name is synonymous with some of the finest Tamil films of the past 15 years. He shot to fame with Kadhal Kondein, starring his brother Dhanush, which created a sensation in Tamil Nadu. He later delivered hits like 7G Brindhavan Colony (a pan-South sensation), Aayirathil Oruvan, Pudhupettai, and Aadukalam, establishing himself as a director of note.
However, in the past decade, Selvaraghavan hasn’t been consistent with the same level of impactful films. While he’s been busy acting, he is now gearing up for the sequel to 7G Brindhavan Colony. In addition, he is preparing for two other exciting sequels: Aayirathil Oruvan 2 and Pudhupettai 2.
Selvaraghavan has been working on these two films for several years. At one point, Dhanush was announced as the lead for Aayirathil Oruvan 2, but it later became clear that it was only a promotional move for another Dhanush film. Opinions surfaced that Karthi would be a better choice for the sequel. Similarly, discussions took place about Dhanush returning for Pudhupettai 2, but there has been no confirmation from either actor.
Selvaraghavan recently clarified that while the scripts are ready and work has been ongoing for years, both Karthi and Dhanush are currently busy with other commitments. As a result, he is considering casting new leads for these sequels. Speculation continues that the delay might be more about maintaining Selvaraghavan’s creative form rather than actor availability. Fans are now eagerly awaiting updates on when these sequels will move forward and who will play the leads.
