Bollywood star Salman Khan's upcoming film Matrubhoomi, based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, has reportedly been postponed once again. The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, features Salman Khan as Colonel Santosh Babu of the 16 Bihar Regiment. Although the film had completed production and was initially scheduled for release on April 17, its release has been delayed, with reports suggesting that the CBFC had not granted clearance.
Amid speculation that the Ministry of External Affairs had objected to the film's portrayal of the Galwan conflict, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clarified that the ministry had no involvement in the certification or release process. He stated that all decisions related to film certification are handled exclusively by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). He also dismissed reports claiming that the ministry had raised objections to the film's depiction of the Galwan Valley incident.
