Dussehra has come and gone, but Tollywood’s upcoming big-budget films have largely missed the opportunity to create a festive buzz. Despite several major releases lined up for the coming months, many filmmakers failed to use the festival to keep their projects in the spotlight. A similar situation was seen during Vinayaka Chavithi. Films such as Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka, Balakrishna’s Dada, Prabhas’ Spirit and Mahesh Babu’s Varanasi did not release even basic festival greeting posters. Although these may seem like small promotional efforts, they can help maintain audience interest and keep a film in the news.
Tollywood has increasingly been facing criticism over postponements, last-minute delays and inadequate promotional planning. Despite repeatedly witnessing the impact of these issues on films, the industry appears to be making the same mistakes. Some movies scheduled for release in the next couple of months have barely begun their promotional campaigns. If big-budget projects also follow this approach, generating sufficient buzz at the last minute could become a major challenge. A film must first reach audiences through effective promotion before its content can speak for itself. The question now is whether Tollywood will learn from these setbacks and adopt a more consistent promotional strategy.
