The Real Theatre War Begins This Week!

Tollywood’s box office is currently witnessing an encouraging phase, with a series of films performing well at the theatres. While the early months of the year saw fewer major releases, the recent line-up has brought audiences back to cinemas. Vishwanath and Sons, DC and Spider-Man have reportedly recorded strong collections, while the recently released Irumudi is also maintaining solid occupancy. The film is said to have reached breakeven within two days.

With Irumudi entering its second week, theatre allocation has now become an important factor. At the same time, pan-India film Toxic is preparing for a major release and is expected to command a significant number of screens. In the Nizam region, the film is being distributed by Dil Raju, adding further interest to the screen-allocation scenario.

The key question now is how theatres will be divided between the existing successful films and the new release. If Toxic receives a larger share of screens, the collections of films that are already performing well could be affected. This week is therefore expected to be a crucial test for Telangana’s theatrical business and the way screen allocations are determined based on audience demand and distribution strength.
