The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, has emerged as the biggest blockbuster of the Sankranthi season in Tollywood. Within just four days of its release, the film crossed ₹201 crore gross worldwide. Families and children are enjoying the film in large numbers. Prabhas powerful one-man performance, director Maruthi’s fresh approach to the horror-fantasy genre and the grand production values by People Media Factory have impressed audiences everywhere.
Sharing his happiness, director Maruthi said the film is receiving love from all sections of the audience and crossing ₹200 crore even before the Sankranthi holidays began is very satisfying. He explained that since the film blends fantasy with psychological elements, they expected it might take some time for audiences to fully connect. Prabhas also felt the same and encouraged him to stay calm, saying that new ideas take time to settle. Maruthi added that once key scenes, including the old-getup portions, were finalized, everything felt perfectly aligned.
Maruthi also spoke about the challenges of making a film like The Raja Saab. He said it is not easy to visually show a character’s inner thoughts and mental state on screen. Prabhas put in immense effort, carefully planning certain scenes for nearly 15 days and giving his best performance. The director shared that fans, industry colleagues and fellow filmmakers like Nag Ashwin and Sandeep Reddy Vanga appreciated the film. He believes the strong box-office collections prove that audiences have accepted Prabhas in a new genre, even in B and C centres where shows are running houseful. Currently, Maruthi is fully enjoying the film’s success and celebrating Sankranthi peacefully, while wishing everyone a very happy festival.
